Macaroni Penguins
There is an estimated population of 12 million breeding pairs of Macaroni Penguins living in colonies in the sub-Antarctic islands of South Georgia, Crozet, Kerguelen, Heard and McDonald. Their name came from mid 18th century British explorers who called a young man who wore fancy feathers in his hat a "Macaroni".
