In Malaysia and Australia, small hermit and soldier crabs build their homes by digging a deep hole into the sand on the beach. Once inside the hole, the crabs make sand balls and push them up to the surface 2 or 3 balls at a time. They are called "sand ball flowers" or "sand ball galaxies".
