Gouldian Finch

This brightly colored bird is native to Northern Australia. Both the male and female of the species possess a rainbow of different colors, with the male usually being the brighter colored of the two. Baby Gouldian Finches are born naked, and don't start developing feathers for at least 12 days. The parent finches don't have to worry about finding their young at night because the babies have blue phosphorescent beads on the side of their beaks that light up in the dark.
