Armadillos are very docile and affectionate. Found mostly in Texas, Florida and South America, they are fascinating creatures. They give birth to identical quadruplets, which is rare and unique for a mammal. Armadillos can hold their breath underwater for 6 minutes, and they sleep an average of 18.5 hours a day. They live in burrows they dig that are up to 20 inches deep, and the Armadillo is one of the few known non-human species that is able to contract leprosy. An actual anti-leprosy vaccine was produced through studying of the species.
