River of Five Colors
In Columbia there is a biological wonder called Cano Cristales or River of Five Colors. It is an ordinary looking river just like any other, but for a few weeks in September and November, the river turns into a vivid rainbow of colors. A unique species of plant called Macarenia Clavigera lines the river banks and floor, and turns a fiery red. Offset by yellow and green sand, blue water, and many other hues in between, it is truly a remarkable sight. Cano Cristales can only be seen on a guided tour on horseback.
