World's Largest Wind Tunnel

This huge wind tunnel is in the General Motors Aerodynamic Laboratory in Warren, Michigan. GM built this turbine engine in 1980 which spans 43 feet in diameter and is capable of producing winds at 415 mph. They limit the wind speed to 138 mph, and have it in use around the clock for five days a week. Most aerodynamic testing for vehicles is done virtually now, but this tunnel provides the engineers a chance to see results with their own eyes in real time.
