The Village of Craco
The village of Craco, Matera, Italy, is an uninhabited ghost town. Built in a beautiful setting on a very steep summit, recurrent earthquakes took their toll on the buildings between 1959 and 1972. The cliff overlooks the stunning Cavone River Valley at 400 meters high. Finally in 1963, the majority of residents were transferred to another town.
