The Sun in the Backyard
Looking like they came from an observatory, Alan Friedman shoots photos of the sun from the backyard of his home in Buffalo, New York. He uses a small telescope and narrow band filters that can capture details in high resolution. The raw material for his solar diary photos is black and white and often blurry. He then applies color and tonality, and better renders the features. The photos are real, and not painted.
