Chara Sands
In Siberia, Russia, is a very unusual desert that is really not a desert. Chara Sands is a 6 x 3 mile area located in the Trans-Baikal region, just 25 miles from the Kodar Glaciers, next to mountains, lakes, and ice fields. And no, the snow capped peaks are not photo-shopped in. These bizarre bright yellow sand dunes are one of Mother Nature's real curiosities.
