Intricate Carving

This detailed carving was done by Kronid Gogolev, a Russian master woodcarver born in 1926. A very old traditional form of art in Russia, his work depicts the rustic and provincial city life of Northern Russian nature and folk. Said to be a long lost art, Gogolev has raised it to a new level, becoming famous in 1984 after two personal exhibitions in Moscow.
Vladimir Putin and Boris Yeltsin are both owners of Gogolev's work.
