The Rare Kakapo
The Kakapo, found only in New Zealand, is one of the world's few flightless birds. It belongs to the parrot family, is the heaviest parrot, and is one of the longest living. Only 124 are known to exist. Lucky for the Kakapo, the government of New Zealand has taken an active role in their species preservation, and have set aside two sanctuaries to help in the Kakapo breeding process.
