The Ice Man
We all take ice for granted, but where did the idea of chilling drinks with ice cubes originate? In the 1800's, Frederic Tudor was at a picnic with his brother enjoying chilled beverages with ice from ponds that they had harvested in the winter. He came up with the idea of shipping ice to the hot climates of the West Indian Islands. It took a long time to catch on, but 30 years later, he would ship over 200 tons of ice halfway around the globe, which made him rich, and he became the "Ice King".
