The Okapi

The Okapi is considered a "living fossil". It is the only animal left that is close to the prehistoric giraffes called Palaetragines which roamed the earth 15 million years ago. Evolution happened and some giraffe species grew tall in order to forage food from tall trees, but the Palaetragines moved to the forest and never really changed much, hence the Okapi.
