Glasswinged Butterfly
The Glasswinged Butterfly, also known as Greta Oto, is abundant in Mexico and Panama. In Spanish, they call this butterfly "Espejitos" which means "little mirrors". But in actuality, the wings are not mirrored, but are transparent to give camouflage against predators. The tissues present on the wings let light pass through without distorting its path, which makes them appear transparent.
