Everlasting Storm
The area where Venezuela's Catatumbo River meets Lake Maracaibo is known as the Everlasting Storm, or the "Lighthouse of Maracaibo". Lightning strikes there up to 280 times an hour, 10 hours a day, 160 nights a year. It is considered to be the world's largest generator of tropospheric ozone.
