Father and Son

Father and son Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka created some of the most exquisite glass models ever produced by human hands. Their work which spans the mid 1800s through the 1930s, consists of lifelike sculptures of plants, jellyfish, snails,
sea anemones, starfish and many other creatures. Based in Dresden, the family team made the models from clear, colored and
painted glass. All were commissioned by institutions for private research collections, and were never sold to the public.
4,400 models were made during their lifetimes, and the majority are still in existence in private collections.
