Operation Stork
For an airshow in Zeltweg, Austria, officials were fearing that a colony of 25 storks near the runways might be a real hazard, especially if a bird gets sucked into an engine. So they brought in 24 soldiers for Operation Stork. Banned from using any guns or weaponry, the soldiers actually "stare" at the storks. The troops observe where the storks like to feed, then they turn up and engage them in eye contact. It apparently intimidates the storks more than the sound of guns or any other explosive device, and it caused all 25 storks to relocate elsewhere.
