Patagonia's Marble Caves
Called General Carrera, this lake in Patagonia shares borders with both Argentina and Chile. Although little known, these fantastic sheer cliffs along the lake are marble, and get their vivid color by the lake's sediments. The caves, known as Las Cavernas de Marmol (The Marble Caverns), can be visited all summer long when the waters of the lake remain at stable levels.
